HOW DOES LIVE TUTORING WORK?

In the Live Help box, choose your Topic and Subject. Then click on the connect button to open the Brainfuse classroom. You will be able to communicate with your tutor by using the whiteboard and chat area. This room includes the Brainfuse whiteboard, a shared virtual blackboard, that allows students and tutors to use instant chat and draw diagrams and equations. When you draw a figure using your mouse on the whiteboard, the tutor instantaneously sees exactly what you have drawn.


WILL MY TUTOR GIVE ME THE ANSWERS?

Your tutor will not just feed you the answer, but will help guide you towards the answer by explaining the underlying academic concepts. Together with your tutor, you will arrive at the answer with a deeper understanding of the skills needed to enable you to work on your own.


HOW DOES THE WRITING LAB WORK?

Drawing from an experienced staff and research-based methodologies from some of the nation’s leading writing programs, Brainfuse offers a robust writing lab that helps users become better writers. Brainfuse writing experts carefully analyze each paper with respect to voice, word choice, content, sentence fluency, and organization. Papers (complete with constructive comments) are returned to users within 24 hours. In addition to comments, users receive an analytical rubric with specific suggestions for follow-up sessions with one of our skills building tutors.


WHAT ARE THE LIVE TUTORING HOURS? 

Math and Writing are available 24/7. Most other subjects are available until at least 1am EST. For more detailed information regarding specific tutoring schedules visit the Brainfuse page. In the Live Help box, first choose your topic then subject. Then click on the Tutoring Schedule icon.

WHAT ARE THE TUTOR QUALIFICATIONS?

No other online tutoring company devotes more resources to selecting tutors of the highest caliber:

  • All tutors have bachelor’s degrees, and the majority of tutors have master’s degrees.
  • All tutors must have prior teaching or tutoring experience.
  • We regularly monitor tutors to ensure that they meet strict performance standards.

CAN I REPLAY MY PREVIOUS SESSIONS?

Yes, under your username you will see a section called My Past Sessions where every live tutoring session you attended has been recorded and archived.


HOW AM I BILLED FOR TUTORING MINUTES?

You are billed only for minutes used. If you connect with a tutor and work for 3 minutes, then 3 minutes is subtracted from your balance.


IS THERE A MINIMUM SESSION LENGTH?

There is no minimum session length.


IS THERE A MAXIMUM SESSION LENGTH?

The maximum session length is 4 hours.


HOW DO I KNOW HOW MUCH TIME I HAVE REMAINING ON MY ACCOUNT?

On the home page, you will see a box that lets you know how many minutes are available.

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY UNUSED MINUTES?

Any unused minutes will roll over to the subsequent academic year. That means you will not lose unused minutes!

DO YOU OFFER A MOBILE APP?

Yes. Our mobile app is free and is available in both the iOS (Apple) and Google Play (Android) stores. It is designed to work on both smartphones and tablets.


WHAT IF I HAVE FORGOTTEN MY USERNAME OR PASSWORD?

HOW DOES THE BRAINFUSE GRADE IMPROVEMENT GUARANTEE WORK?

We are confident that by working hard with our tutors in one subject for at least three hours a month for three consecutive months, you will see an improvement in your grade in that subject.

To use the guarantee, you must meet the eligibility criteria outlined below. If you are not sure if you meet the requirements, speak with a representative by calling 1-866-BRAINFUSE (272-4638) Ext 509.

To be eligible for the guarantee, you must:

  • be a student in grade 6-12, enrolled in an accredited public, private, parochial, or charter school in the United States; or be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education;
  • be taking a course over the span of three months, or be transitioning from a natural prerequisite course without a break in time longer than a summer;
  • receive grades reports in a way that allows Brainfuse to see whether or not your grade has improved;
  • have purchased our 3 hours of tutoring package at $99 for 3 consecutive months.

To qualify, you must:

  • work with our tutors in one subject for at least three hours a month for three consecutive months;
  • complete all major assignments and exams.

If you qualify, and your grade did not improve, we’ll refund what you spent on tutoring in the qualifying subject, up to $297 (3 months of tutoring).

How does Brainfuse determine if your grade improved?

At the beginning of your tutoring program, we’ll establish a baseline starting grade that we will use to determine if your grade improved. For example, if you start working with us in August before you have your mid-term grade in Algebra, we will look at your grade in pre-algebra as a starting point. If you are taking a course for which there is no natural prerequisite the three month period does not begin until you receive your first grade in the course, such as your mid-term exam grade.

Is there anything else you need to know?

  • If you submit a request for a refund, you will need to authorize your school to release your records to us for verification of grades.
  • Sessions for which the minutes are credited back to your account do not count towards Brainfuse’s monthly tutoring requirement.
  • There is a limit of one refund per household and/or family.
  • This guarantee applies to U.S. customers only.
  • Please note that our guarantee does not apply to schools/subjects that offer grades of U, S, VS, E or Pass/Fail. Our guarantee does not apply to students who start with an A in a subject, or who start with a numerical grade within 10% of the highest grade available in their school’s grading system.
